DPS, Sonipat Conducted Uits Exhibition

Delhi Public School, Sonipat celebrated the “Universe in the School” fair on the occasion of their annual prize distribution ceremony on 19th and 20th February 2010.DPS, Sonipat is one of the renowned schools in Delhi NCR which runs Universe In the School (UitS) program in association with Space Technology and Education Pvt Ltd. (STEPL), Delhi.


Students from classes 3rd to 8th standard enthusiastically demonstrated the activities from their sessions such as Pop rocket launch, Weigh yourself on different planets, Living in Space, Moon crater making, Drive the rover on the Mars surface, Showing the Solar spectrum, Astrophotography and working of a camera, How do we stand on Earth etc. People were amused to see their weights on different planets. Students showed how difficult it is for astronauts to live in the space. Visitors enjoyed making craters on the moon’s surface. Aditya Dabas, an 8th standard student independently handled the telescope and conducted the lunar observation. There was an alien decoding the secret messages for the visitors.


Parents were extremely happy and satisfied with student’s demonstration."The exhibition is a perfect blend of practical and theoretical science knowledge for students and parents.” commented one of them.”It is truly encouraging to build up scientific aptitude” said Mrs Seema Gaur.”It is good effort to make children understand our celestial bodies. I really enjoyed. This things should be carried out frequently.” said Mr. Daljeet Singh. Everyone appreciated the school’s and STEPL’s additional efforts in implementing the innovative science teaching methodology for their students. Participants too enjoyed showing the fun filled SPACE activities.
