Anyone with an interest in eclipses may join ECa. ECa members are eligible for many Athenaeum benefits. ECa's resources includes a comprehensive library, community, and outreach programs offer both beginner and advanced amateur astronomers opportunities to interact with famous Eclipse Chasers, advance their knowledge regarding Eclipses, its photography, breaking deep rooted myths regarding Eclipses, and participate in providing valuable services to the Eclipse Chasers Athenaeum. Eclipse Bulletin: Other publications of the Athenaeum will be the eclipse special bulletin, published a few months before the eclipse. The bulletin will contain details of the eclipse, timings, travel details, tourist information about the major places in the path of the eclipse, weather details for various places.
A Unique Group: Eclipse Chasers Athenaeum is a unique and exclusive group, there is no such formal group in existence, anywhere. ECa caters for people who have eclipses on their mind, and want to be a part of every eclipse that occurs on earth, either in person or by watching it live over the internet.
Live Broadcast: Athenaeum members will have the facility of watching the eclipse being broadcast live on our website. The access to the site is for members only, and will be high bandwidth, and broadband. There will be no jamming of the live broadcast (because of unlimited viewers on popular sites). Partial Lunar Eclipse of 16th August 2008 was broadcast live by the Athenaeum. The annular eclipse scheduled to occur in the evening of 26th January 2009 will be broadcast live from the island of Sumatra, Indonesia and of course the century’s greatest eclipse on 22nd July 2009, which passes over India.
Eclipse Chases: Athenaeum members will have priority in joining in the STEPL organised ‘Eclipses Chases’ to the ends of the earth to be present under the lunar shadow and watch the glorious spectacle. See you ‘Under The Shadow Minutes’ grow quickly to double figures and possibly triple figure in no time.
Resource Library: Only the current Athenaeum members will have access to a 100+ library of books, all on eclipses. Hard copies of the books will be available for viewing at our facility, and additionally the books will be available as e-books on our website.
Eclipse Convention: Eclipse Chasers Athenaeum will organise a yearly convention, whose purpose will be two fold. One to present members’ and professional astronomers’ work in the past eclipses and to discuss the next eclipses scheduled in future. Future eclipses discussion and lectures will include eclipse details, logistics, weather, travel and tourism.
